Now you've worked out how to pick your horse, how
do you put your money where your mouth is?
There are plenty of bet types to play with depending on how
many horses you like, how much you want to spend and how much
you'd like to win. There is something for everyone. Here are
few that more you might like to start with...
EASYBETS
are the really easy way to bet on
QUINELLA
and
TRIFECTA'S
options just decide what meeting and race to bet on and decide
what value and the computer will do the rest. Easybets are
available in most values but the popular values are $3, $4,
$8, $16 and $32. If you don't want to choose the race just ask
the TAB operator at retail for a Easybet Trifecta and the
value of your choice and they will automatically give you an
Easybet on the next race to go.
A (Boxed)
QUINELLA
sounds complicated but it simply means you choose two horses
to finish 1st and 2nd in that order. ('Boxed' means that your
horses can run in any order).
A Quinella is a good bet to take when there is a reasonable
sized field ( i.e. 10 runners or more) and you are undecided
about a couple of horses. The expected dividend in a Quinella
is generally bigger than taking those same runners in a Win or
Place bet.
For $3 you can pick 3 horses to run 1st and 2nd in any order.
For $6 you can pick 4 horses to run 1st and 2nd in any order.
A (Boxed)
TRIFECTA
also sounds a bit scary but simply means you choose the horses
that will finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd in that order. (Boxed means
that they can come in any order.)
Taking a Trifecta when there is a small field (particularly 7
or less runners and when there is only one Place dividend) can
be a good bet. It's easier to pick because there are less
runners and usually it pays a better dividend than taking
those three horses individually in a Win or Pace bet.
For $3 you can pick 3 horses to run 1st ,2nd and 3rd in any
order.
For$12 you can pick 4 horses to run 1st, 2nd and 3rd in any
order.
BIG RACE PACK
-
gives you three bets in one and it couldn't be simpler. For
$10 you just pick your own horse and the computer does the
rest. You get an Each Way, a Quinella and a boxed Trifecta.
These bets give you the best possible chance of coming up
trumps. The Big Race Pack is available on all races on the
internet
PICK6
-
If you are really keen on possibly bigger return why not give
Pick6 a go. Available on races nominated by the TAB at
particular meetings you need to pick the winner in six
consecutive races.
Sounds hard but worth thinking about if there are one or two
horses that you think could win over those six races. Pick6
pools are often guaranteed at $50,000 or more !
% Bet
It's simple - a Percentage Bet puts you in control
by letting you spend an amount that suits your budget and you can take as
many runners in a race as you want.
You pay a percentage of the normal price of a Trifecta, Treble, Pick6 or
Six Pack in return for a percentage of the dividend. Click

Sports Bet Types
There are plenty of different betting options to increase the
excitement of watching Super 12, where every game is a big
game. Let's take a look at some of the most popular choices.
There's something for everyone, whether you're a beginner or a
seasoned punter.
TOURNAMENT WINNER
This is where you try to pick the eventual season's winner.
Bet early in the season with this option, if you like
the Blue's chances of picking up the trophy, the odds are
likely to be better now than in a few week's time - especially
if they make a strong start.
HEAD TO HEAD
This is the simplest Super 12 option, where you choose which
of the two teams will win a particular game. You may
also like to pick the half time and full time options
with a bet like this. The odds reflect the fact that
only two teams are involved and the return you get can
be lower than other options, but a Head to Head wager is
guaranteed to amp up the excitement as you're watching.
MULTI
A great way to spread the excitement over several games each
week and get big returns. Multi lets you combine up to 7 bets
into one, increasing potential returns by multiplying the odds
from each option into one big return. You can use your
knowledge of multiple teams in the competition to bet Head to
Head across several games in the round; or simply pick the
results for your favourite team over the next few weeks.
FIRST TRYSCORER
Simply select the player you believe will score the first try.
The selections might also include "Penalty Try" or
"No Try", as these outcomes are possible. Last
season there were some big TAB payouts for surprise tries from
a number of players.
WINNING TEAM AND MARGIN
You select the winning team and the margin by which you
believe the team will win. The options are 12 and under and 13
and over for each team. You can also pick a draw. If you
are familiar with the NZ Rugby Union's Virtual Super 12
competition you know how much fun this can be.
POINTS START
With this bet, the TAB give the team expected to lose a points
start. For example, if the Crusaders are playing the
Cats at home, the Cats may be given a 20.5 points start. If
you bet on the Crusaders, they have to win by 21 points or
more for you to win your bet.
